​Artist Statement
One look at a Jack Babcock painting, be it on canvas or glass, and you can see why Jack’s artistic vision resonates with the people of the Pacific Northwest.

Jack has spent more than 30 years developing his distinct style to capture realistic scenes of Mt. Rainier, barns and landscapes throughout the Cascade Region while living in Auburn, Washington.

Jack uses a limited color palette in his paintings, starting each work of art by using just three or four colors and manipulating the paints to create his desired custom palette. The result is a warm, earthy feel that can be recognized instantly.

While Jack has studied under some of the region’s great artists, his ability to transform an ordinary glass ornament into a piece of art is not only self-taught but unmatched by area artists. When Jack painted his first Christmas ornament in 1982, he unwittingly launched a product that would find its way into homes around the world.

Since that first experimental ornament, Jack has mastered the art of painting on a round surface and has painted over 4,000 glass ornaments and 200 oil canvas landscape paintings. His talents have not gone unnoticed. He has been featured in galleries throughout the area.

Biography
Jack has spent more than forty years developing his distinctive style, rather on canvas or glass. Jack has had several mentors, the ones who had the greatest impact on his work were Robert Walton and Fred Oldfield. Robert with use of light, and shadow in his paintings. Who also pushed me to display my work in shows and galleries.

Fred Oldfield pushed me out of my comfort zone by encouraging me to include animals and cowboys in my work.

Jack participates in shows in Washington, Oregon, Tennessee and Montana.
